Vintage Coffins Steamboat Coffin
In the summer of 1999, a producer for the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) commissioned Bert & Bud's Vintage Coffins to build a coffin shaped like a steamboat for a feature length documentary film titled 'The Mainstream.' Humorist/author Roy Blount, Jr. travelled the length of the Mississippi River meeting and talking with interesting and sometimes quirky people along the way. In Hickman, Kentucky, Mr. Blount was launched into the mighty Mississippi in the steamboat coffin pictured here. While the cameras rolled, he mused on life and death along the country's main stream. The handsome pine coffin is now owned by an actual Mississippi riverboat captain.
